NRGI’s Ten Most-Read 2021 Blog Posts

The future of oil-producing states amid the energy transition, critical minerals and the measurement of resource governance proved popular topics with readers of NRGI's blog this year.

But the year's most-read post, in Spanish, concerned proposals made during the hotly contested Peruvian election to distribute 40 percent of the government's mining revenue directly to the population. NRGI’s Claudia Viale examined the proposal, stressing a need for a debate on the proposed reform and the use of mining proceeds.

Elsewhere, NRGI’s experts shared resource-backed loan revelations from DRC, Ecuador, Ghana, Guinea and Venezuela, and considered the increased importance of transparency around Chinese lending and resource-based financing.
