Ghana’s Gold Mining Revenues: An Analysis of Company Disclosures
Using Ghana as an example, NRGI experts have outlined how payments-to-governments data can be used to monitor adherence with fiscal regimes; to monitor the allocation and disbursement of mining royalties to subnational entities; and to monitor payments for infrastructure improvements in mining-affected areas.
NRGI's Daniel Kaufmann Testifies at the South Africa State Capture Inquiry
NRGI president and CEO Daniel Kaufmann delivered testimony in Johannesburg at South Africa's "judicial commission of inquiry to inquire into allegations of state capture, corruption and fraud in the public sector including organs of state." Kaufmann gave an interview with South African broadcaster eNCA following his testimony, lectured on the topic at Wits University and the University of Cape Town and spoke about state capture on eNCA's Tonight with Jane Dutton broadcast. (His visit to South Africa followed earlier remote testimony to the commission, as well as a lecture in Ukraine, also on state capture.)

Tunisian Documentary Captures Local Demands for Development in Oil and Gas-Rich Tataouine
Last year, Tunisian journalist and filmmaker Adel Zarrouk produced an Arabic-language documentary with NRGI funding addressing the April 2017 al Kamour movement, a wave of protests and sit-ins in the Tataouine region demanding employment and subnational development. That film and an interview with Zarrouk are now available online.
