Dear friends and colleagues,

As 2018 draws to a close, I would like to convey my gratitude for your support to the critical cause of resource governance this year.

The world continues to undergo rapid changes, necessitating adaptations in our work and strategies. At NRGI we are reflecting on another year of hard work with so many of you, and on impacts achieved. With partners we have contributed to building knowledgeskills and coalitions for change in the many countries where we operate.

In resource-rich states and also in global forums we have helped advance reforms for increased transparency and accountability. In part we have done this drawing on rigorous datasets and our experience in situ. From the jade mines of Myanmar to the offshore oil fields of Mexico, NRGI experts have highlighted governance challenges and the drivers of resource related corruption and state capture, and worked with diverse stakeholders in dialogues leading toward solutions. And yet we still found a bit of time to have a some fun with one of the year’s most popular movies.

We wish all of our partners around the globe a restful end to the year. Thank you for your collaboration and impassioned work, which will serve us all well in 2019 and beyond.

Best regards,

Daniel Kaufmann
