NRGI CEO and president Suneeta Kaimal (@suneetajan) joined Newcrest CEO Sandeep Biswas, ICMM’s Rohitesh Dhawan, EITI Chair Rt Hon Helen Clark and Orano CEO Philippe Knoche on 14 July to discuss the role of good mineral resource governance.
Hosted by ICMM, this online event saw the panelists explore the role of good governance in natural resource management and how the mining industry can support its implementation.
The event also marked the launch of ICMM’s latest report "Social Progress in Mining-Dependent Countries: Analysing the role of resource governance in delivering the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)". This research highlighted the contribution mining can make to sustainable development and underlines the importance of effective natural resource governance in enabling host countries to harness their natural resources for social progress.
