Ghana: Launch of the 2021 Resource Governance Index

The Natural Resource Governance Institute (NRGI) launched the newest edition of the Resource Governance Index (RGI) for Ghana's oil and gas, and mining sectors on Thursday 22 July 2021. The launch featured a presentation of the assessment of Ghana’s oil and gas, and mining, sectors by Nasir Alfa Mohammed, Ghana policy advocacy officer. Nafi Chinery, NRGI West Africa regional manager – Anglophone, moderated.

As a flagship project of NRGI, the 2021 RGI is a robust, evidence-based tool that allows stakeholders—such as governments, civil society actors, private companies and citizens—to understand how their countries perform in terms of resource governance. It is a freely available public data product that serves as a global benchmark, country and sector diagnostic tool, and a roadmap for policy and practice reform. The 2021 RGI is the latest edition and covers 18 countries across Africa, Latin America, Asia and the Middle East.
