Ricardo Troncoso

Ricardo is based in Mexico City and works to advance NRGI’s Mexico objectives, particularly in projects related to the energy transition, transition minerals and national oil companies.
Ricardo is an economist specializing in the analysis and management of environmental policy and data analysis and visualization, with 15 years of experience in climate change economics and low emissions development strategies within the public sector, non-governmental organizations, international organizations and cooperation agencies. He has served as an advisor on climate change and low-carbon development strategies for INECC in Mexico; low emissions development policy lead at WWF Mexico and the MLED Program, funded by USAID; an advisor on environmental economics and financing for BIOFIN Mexico; and a consultant on climate and environmental policy, data analysis and visualization for organizations including UK PACT and GIZ.
Ricardo holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, undertook master’s studies in economics at Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas, and completed a specialization on analysis and management of environmental policy. He has also studied data analysis and visualization. He speaks Spanish and English.
